Agrium Buys Stake In Hanfeng

Agrium Inc. has acquired a 19.6% equity in Hanfeng Evergreen Inc., a Chinese specialty fertilizer company, for US $63 million, according to an Agrium release. In addition, Agrium has the opportunity to participate in a proposed joint venture (JV) between Hanfeng and PetroChina Ningxia Petrochemical Company (PetroChina). It is expected that this joint venture will build and operate Sulphur Coated Urea (SCU) plants in Ningxia and the surrounding provinces.

Group Formed To Address Ethanol Waste Issues

A global alliance was formed in Cali, Colombia in late March to further resources for handling the waste products associated with ethanol production, as well as paper and general agricultural production.
