Chemistry

COMPOSITION: O,O-Diethyl S-[(ethylthio)methyl] phosphorodithioate .

CLASS: Organophosphate.

PROPERTIES: Pale straw to light brown; colorless to very light yellow liquid. Boiling point 118-120°C. Stable in neutral and acidic conditions. Soluble in most organic solvents such as acetone and xylene. Miscible in xylene, vegetable oils, carbon tetrachloride, alcohols, ethers, and esters. Subject to hydrolysis under alkaline conditions.

WATER SOLUBILITY: 50 mg/l at 25°C.

TOXICITY: Tech (Rat): Oral LD50 2-4 mg/kg. Dermal: (Guinea Pig) 20-30 mg/kg wet..

HANDLING/STORAGE: Thimet* is highly poisonous by skin contact, inhalation, or swallowing. Do not contaminate feed or food. Keep out of reach of domestic animals. Not for use or storage in or around home. Shelflife approx. 2 years.

Emergency Guidelines

ANTIDOTE: Atropine.

FIRST AID: Get medical aid. Eyes: immediately flush with plenty of water. Skin: wash thoroughly with soap and water. Inhalation: remove to fresh air. Ingestion: drink 1-2 glasses of water; induce vomiting by touching back of throat with finger.
