India’s Agriculture Ministry to be Renamed, Add Farmer Welfare to Focus

In an effort to focus on the needs of farmers India’s Agriculture Ministry will rename itself Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Ministry, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced earlier this week.

In an article by The Economic Times, “Modi stressed on the need to increase agricultural productivity and said the government is making efforts to boost crop yields.” In addition, “rural and agricultural development can only be complete when welfare of the farmer is also ensured.”
