Renova Plans Russia’s First Glyphosate Factory

Renova group plans to build Russia’s first glyphosate production factory, the Moscow Times reports. Moscow-based CJSC Orgsyntes Group, a division of Renova, plans to invest between $100 and $150 million in the project and complete the facility by 2017.

Orgsyntes CEO Yaroslav Kuznetsov told the Moscow times that the company is finishing up the process of selecting a business to operate the facility and produce the herbicide. He explained to the Moscow Times, “Negotiations are in progress with ten Chinese companies that possess the technology necessary for glyphosate production.”

The Khimprom division of Orgsyntes specializes in the mass production of organic, inorganic, cholorganic, organophosphorous and silicone chemicals. It also produces rubber production and detergent production chemicals and reagents used for oil, petrochemicals and power generation.

The Percarbonate division of the company is Russia’s only manufacturer of the bleaching agent percarbonate which is used in the textile and chemical industries.
