Explosion Rocks Shandong Binnong – Reports

According to press reports, a raw material shed owned by Shandong Binnong Technology Co. Ltd. (Shandong Binnong) exploded and caught fire at 5:40 p.m. on Sept. 29. It was extinguished and no casualties were reported.

Founded in 2003, the company is a leading herbicide formulator and manufacturer in China. The company has three major kinds of agrochemicals: herbicides, insecticides and fungicides, and has formulated more than 100 varieties. Its technical-grade products include amides, triazines, dinitroanilines, organophosphorus and phenoxyalkanoic acids. In the past several years, the company experienced relatively stable development with annual revenue of more than $325 million. Its annual capacity tops 90,000 tons.

Shandong Binnong issued the following statement:

“According to the 9/29 explosion announcement released by Shandong Binnong Technology Co., Ltd. (Shandong Binnong) on 30 Sept., 2014, the explosion was caused by administrative omission and though it caused property loss, staff on duty was not injured.”
