ChemLinked: Chinese Pesticide Exports Rise 8.4%

China pesticide exports rose by 8.4% to $8.523 billion in 2013, according to regulatory consultancy ChemLinked, citing figures from the Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals, MoA (ICAMA).

“Though imports jumped by 23% to $698 million, China still maintains a considerable trade surplus of $7.8 billion in the pesticide sector,” ChemLinked said.

Export volume increased from 1.599 million tons to 1.622 million tons, with glyphosate contributing more than a third of the total. Compared with the statistic from the NBS (National Bureau of Statistics), China produced 1.64% more pesticide in 2013 at 3.18 million tons, according to ChemLinked.
